Kristine Jakobsson is a food stylist and recipe developer based in London. Born in Manila, Philippines and raised in Sydney, Australia, Kristine’s culinary journey has been heavily influenced by the flavourful foods of her homeland and multicultural flavours she discovered in Australia.
Her interest in cooking began at the tender age of 7, with her passion for recipe creation developing in her mid-20s.
Growing up in a household of exceptional home cooks, Kristine spent much of her time in the family's outdoor kitchen, learning from her mother and aunties. Her cooking style is relaxed and packed full of flavour. She strives to include a balance of salty, sweet, sour, and spicy in every savoury dish she prepares.
Drawing inspiration from Filipino, Southeast Asian, and Western flavours, Kristine enjoys combining elements from East and West in her recipes. She keeps her dishes fresh and vibrant by working with seasonal produce and giving classic dishes a modern twist while maintaining their original flavour profile.
As a recipe writer, staying up-to-date with food trends is crucial. Kristine reads food magazines, cookbooks, and follows food-related social media accounts to keep her ideas fresh. Her work as a food stylist and recipe tester also exposes her to different recipes, further fuelling her inspiration. Culinary school in Sydney provided her with a solid foundation in cookery, which she continues to rely on in her work.
Ultimately, she aims to introduce the wonderful flavours of Filipino cuisine to her readers and followers and hope they will find her flavourful recipes both delicious and achievable to cook at home.
